Meet the Artist

Cain Coleman is an award-winning, multi-hyphenate performer, creator, educator, producer, musician, and student based in Brooklyn. A native of Richmond, VA, Cain began formal training at Richmond Ballet, Henrico High School Center for the Arts, Virginia School of the Arts, and Pine Camp Cultural Arts Center—home of City Dance Theatre, where they truly discovered their artistic beginnings. Richmond remains a grounding place of peace and inspiration in their life.

Coleman’s performance career has included celebrated work with Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company, Martha Graham Dance Company, The Metropolitan Opera, Philadanco, and the internationally acclaimed performance duo The Dragon Sisters. In addition to their work as a dancer and performer, Cain has cultivated a thriving musical career, performing globally under their stage name Odessa Da Gawd. As both a solo artist and member of The Dragon Sisters, Coleman has built a dynamic artistic identity rooted in sound, movement, storytelling, queerness, community, and joy—releasing music, headlining nightlife stages, touring internationally, and bringing boundary-pushing performances to audiences around the world.

Coleman was honored as Breakthrough Artist of the Year (2021) and Best Duo/Group (2021/2022), and was nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the NYC Glam Awards in 2022.

Their collaborations with major platforms, brands, and institutions—including Mugler, Amazon Music, Meta, Instagram, Brooklyn Museum, Queer Capital, MOBIfest, Absolut, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Lincoln Center—reflect Coleman’s commitment to innovation and artistic evolution. Their work has been featured in Billboard, Vogue, WWD, Paper Magazine, Elle, Wonderland, Ladygunn, Guinness World Records, and The New York Times, recognizing them as a cultural force across performance, music, and contemporary art.

Currently serving as Producer of DanceFest NYC, Personal trainer at Equinox, Guest Choreographer at The Ailey School, MFA candidate at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and former Adjunct Professor at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance and Marymount Manhattan College, Coleman continues to inspire, educate, and build artistic ecosystems that uplift radical imagination, embodiment, and possibility—all while remaining deeply engaged in their own ever-evolving creative practice.

Cain also works as a freelance Choreographer, movement director creative director and model.
